Maturing is realising how many things don't require your comment. - Rachel Wolchin

I'm very thankful to have yet another year added to my life. I cannot believe that I'm leaving my teen years behind. I remember as if it were yesterday that I spent all my days playing and coming home all dirty with sand in my hair... poor mum. I guess I've not yet got the 'feels' of being a grown up, or perhaps I was a 20+ year old trapped in a teenagers' body. My teen years weren't all too bad actually, I went through some bad and good phases but that's life right, I've learned to turn the negative into positive and told myself that life does move on and as they said, time is indeed the healer of all wounds although they get a crack from time to time. We must learn to leave the past behind and not let it drag us backwards.
Sadly I didn't do anything special for my birthday; the first reason being that I was working and second, I'm not one to hold massive parties whereas I love a quiet dinner with my loved ones and that's exactly what I did tonight. My mother cooked my favourite Zambian dish for dinner Sometime this week or coming weekend I plan on possibly going out with some friends but we'll have to see about that.
Thanks to everyone that's been following me through my teen years and witnessing those horrible outfits, especially from when I had just started blogging - because I know a few people have been around since I was like 16/17. Thank you.

Deletehappy birthday again xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteHappy birthday Esther! It feels a little different not being able to say "teen" after the number of years you are, isn't it? A little more adult-like? I'm glad you look at life the way you do, you seem much wiser than your years. And I'm the same exact way lol. I love small, intimate gatherings vs loud, brash outrageous get-togethers. I'll get over it one day for a really special occasion I guess, but for birthdays, to me that's perfect too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! And yes it's bit absurd when I think about it. Haha and I keep on saying, I'm a grandma trapped in a 2 decade year old person :)
DeleteI think simple dinner with family and close ones is the best! I'm glad you had a good birthday! I'm glad I've been following long enough to see you evolve with the years :)
ReplyDeleteI love that quote in your title so much too!!
xx
Thanks Dee, your comments are always so encouraging and I'm glad we've been able to see each other grow and evolve in these past few years.

Happy Belated Birthday Esther! I always say one should follow the saying "a year older, a year wiser". We learn over the years how to be ourselves and it is perfectly fine to have some ups and downs along the way. I'm glad you had a nice dinner (I'm the same way, except I added clubbing in the mix for the first time). Thank you for stopping by my blog.
