AMSTEL

Good morning from Iceland, last week I was all in my feelings, missed my parents and was just overall homesick so I booked a one-way ticket and here I am. A  day after arriving I fell ill, I caught some sort of fever or perhaps it's the difference in weather... anyway, it's been long since I last posted so I decided to use this free time.

Stedelijk Museum | Amsterdam

The Stedelijk Museum is located in the Museum quarter of Amsterdam. It's a modern and contemporary visual arts museum with multiple special exhibitions during the year. It's the first museum I've visited since moving here and I definitely wasn't disappointed. At the time that I went, there was a J. Tingueley exhibition, he's known for his kinetic art, i.e. metamechanics. After the museum, my friend and I stopped at a vintage café where we indulged in a cheese plater and some glühwein.

Marktplaats Vintage Show

I'm back with another post, it's an outfit that I wore last Tuesday when I attended a fashion show by Marktplaats at Vondelkerk. The show took place at Amsterdam's Vondel church (by the famous Vondel Park, which between you should visit if you're even in the city). The runway was walked by Dutch influencers from beauty & fashion bloggers, lifestyle bloggers and vloggers as well.

Opening a New Chapter

Happy new week and I hope your weekend was good. Mine was spent exploring and getting lost in my new neighbourhood - but I always make it home safe so no worries. Last week I made my big move and relocated to The Netherlands, particularly Amsterdam. Last year [in this post] I mentioned how I had been trying to move abroad for University but things did not work out as planned because I ended up not scoring high enough on my TOEFL Test.

This year I started preparing earlier than before, I got my TOEFL results in beginning of April after applying to three Universities in Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Utrecht. To my surprise I was accepted to all three and was left with having to make one of the hardest decisions ever and something I know will highly impact my life; hopefully for the better. As you now obviously know, I decided upon Amsterdam because it is the place where I have always wanted to study and now here I am.

Clicking the 'complete purchase' button for my one-way ticket was frightening seeing as I have always bought round-trip flight tickets. Packing was a nightmare and I had been preparing everything two weeks prior to flying out only to somehow end up doing everything the very night before my morning flight. I crammed my entire life for the coming few years into two suitcases, I have no idea how that happened but I managed. In this post I brushed on the fact that I want to live on less materialistic things and so far, so good. And soon I will be sharing with you glimpses of how I have organised everything.

I have now been here for a little more than a week, my father joined me here for a couple of days to help me settle and we had a great time. As of now, everything is almost sorted out but getting Internet was by far the most problematic, it's as if the odds were working against me. I stayed here four whole days without being able to communicate with my family whenever I desired and my only option was to take a 10 minute walk to the campus... Eventually I managed to get it up and running and I am back to abusing my Netflix account.

Friday the 19th and the 26th the Erasmus Student Network board at my Uni held welcome drinks for all International and Exchange students, aside from that myself and other students have met a couple of times in-between for drinks and exploring the nightlife in the city and to be honest it has been quite hectic and my body needs refuelling, so for now I plan on letting myself sleep till noon and overall enjoying the little free time I have got remaining till my programme commences.

Till next time.x

Happy Monday you gorgeous people! I'm in a really great mood, the past week I've been attending courses for my summer job from 08:00 hrs - 16:00 hrs every day and it's been great. Each day is always different and we learn something new. I'm finishing the course this coming Thursday and straight after I'm going to start working full-time so this summer there's probably not going to be any travelling for me seeing as I've already gone to Copenhagen and Amsterdam (2x) in the past two months. Although I have a feeling that for my birthday this year I want to visit a new place, we'll have to see about that next month.

Anyway back to the post, as I mentioned in the past blog posts, I recently went to Amsterdam; which by the way is my favourite city. I went there for an open-day and also later for interviews and presentations so it was all very exciting except for the fact that on the recent trip I caught some virus and fell sick instantly after arriving home and I'm just not getting back to feeling like myself again. I want to share with you some pictures I shot while there, they aren't many because I was too busy enjoying my few days there sightseeing and drinking too many glasses of Heineken.

Outfit | Red Blazer

Blazer, wedges, necklace - H&M | Top - New Yorker | Ripped jeans - Amsterdam

Just wanted to show you an outfit from about a year ago, I really liked the way it looked; especially the hair. This is exactly what inspired me to have my hair the way I do today because back then I'd loved it so much and decided why not try it again. These black wedges haven't appeared on the blog for quite sometime now but seeing as winter's approaching they're bound to have an appearance very soon.

Outfit | Dinner Party

Exhausted at the end of the night...had a little bit too many glasses of wine.
Leather jacket, pleather skirt, top - Vero Moda | Shoes - H&M | Bag - H&M
 Earrings - Topshop | Watch - Casio | Lipstick - Maybelline

Here's the outfit that I wore featuring my new stuff that I'd showed you guys in the last post. It was a really black outfit so the red jacket and neon bag definitely kept the outfit a bit alive. As I said in my last post these shoes really need a break but I just can't seem to put them down. I loved my outfit and this skirt is a new favourite of mine, you'll be seeing it in many more blog posts to come so be prepared. I kept my hair in a huge bun just to let the details of the top speak for themselves and also I didn't want hair all over my face.
I'm now done with 2/5 of my finals, my next exam is on Friday so it's back to the books (more like pinterest, tumblr and all the other social sites).

Outfit | Theatre night

Blazer - Primark | Top - H&M | Bottoms - Outlet | Wedges - Amsterdam

Happy Sunday loves, not feeling too good so I'll be taking a day off from work. Yesterday I forced myself to go though and I just felt even worse at the end of the day so it's better for me to stay at home and get some rest. It's that time of the month again where there are a lot of assignments and tests at school so I'll definitely try my hardest and study a little bit. If you follow me on Instagram then you have probably already seen this picture of the outfit that I wore last weekend to the theatre with my parents. The play we had gone to was somewhat confusing hahaþ, apart from that it was a lot of fun and it was good to be finally doing something together with my parents.
I'm sure you're all sick of these wedges that I got last year when I was in Amsterdam. I just love them so much and they are always my go to shoes when it comes to nights out.

And last but not least, this was my first shooting area,
but somehow the camera wouldn't work with me...
therefore the pictures ended up being too dark and my face was nowhere to be seen.

Oy! Happy Friday to you.
Feeling better than last time, in the morning mommy treated me to an early birthday treat... a full facial cleansing (man I have bad pores). Afterwards I went to the mall in search of my birthday dress and instead I ended up chatting up two of my very good friends, grabbed a bite to eat and we just sat there talking the entire time. Therefore I came home empty handed.
Recently I've been grasping a lot of info on how to better my outfit photos since I'm a solo blogger and rarely have someone to take the photos for me, or in my situation.. I don't feel like bothering my parents anymore.
I've had my tripod for a year now and it's finally been put to use. I went out today and worked my magic (ended up running back into the house though due to some workers whistling at me whilst posing for the pictures, they just stood there staring at me).

Oh, and as you see I'm spotting a new hair style, I love it. My second ever weave and it looks bomb.
My lovely mother (and my personal hairstylist lol) did it for me and I'm very pleased with the results.

Btw, are any of you lovely readers of mine fans of the vampire diaries? I just got done watching the season finale, wow, just wow. I was so shocked at the ending and now I'm left craving more. If you like the show, what are your opinions on this past season, exciting or boring?

Outfit | Fur + Bun

Good afternoon my beauties, January's coming to an end and to be honest I didn't do much this month (other than reading like a maniac, I managed to finish the book Grafarþögn for my Icelandic class in about 2-3 weeks). The post-Christmas sales are coming to an end as well and believe it or not; I haven't purchased a single thing. I'm saving my mula for important things and I'm very proud of myself.
Yesterday on my way to school I decided to take the tripod and my camera with me so that on my way home I would stop somewhere and shoot a couple of outfit photos, but one of my lovely friends offered to shoot for me which I was very happy about because there was so much wind yesterday and can you imagine my mini-self outside in the cold wind trying to pose and not break my expensive camera hahah.

I'm still feeling under the weather so I played a bit with layering, I have a tunic under my striped top, the fur vest and then the jacket to top it off.
My bun ended up being destroyed by the evil wind and my friend H didn't give me a heads up.

Outfit | Last Saturday Night

Dress - Topshop // Wedges - Amsterdam // Earrings - H&M // Bag - Zara

Hello once again people, I'm on a roll here y'all. It's a while whereby I've actually managed to sit down and edit photos + publish them that very same day (adding to that, doing it 3 days straight!).
This week has been nothing but joyful for me as you all know, I can now drive myself around without the parents being all naggy and protective about it.

I wore this outfit last Saturday when I attended a party in honour of the cultural night. During the day I was working and at night I brought out the glitter! Wearing the gorgeously embellished dress from Topshop, was bought for mum but she couldn't fit so she passed it over. And I LOVE it! (a bit tight though, but it looks good on hahah). I even successfully managed to apply false eyelashes that I'd been trying to use all summer...smh!

Church tomorrow + work in the evening.

Have a great weekend,

Ciao bella!

xoxo

Outfit | Saturday Outfits

In the morning:
This was my church outfit on Saturday (I've actually never mentioned it before to you guys but I go an Adventist church which explains why we attend church on Saturdays and not Sundays like most churches do). I am trying to get back on track and attend church more frequent than before.
This is what I wore.

Dress - New Yorker // Belt - H&M // Shoes - H&M // Blazer - Local Boutique

In the afternoon:
Saturday was a very busy day for me, firstly was church, afterwards mum and I headed straight home where I changed into a more relaxed outfit and went to town where the Pride parade was being held. I met up with my friend and we spent the day there in very shitty weather, but it didn't bother us the least.
Just a quick view of some performers that showcased their talent. I took some video footage as well that I'm planning on fidgeting with in the coming days, hopefully it will be up soon.
I wore all black in the afternoon as the weather wasn't very pleasant (not pictured) + for shoes I opted for my very favoured Vans sneakers.

In the evening:
After standing in pouring rain for a couple of hours, I came home and had a very warm shower to prevent myself from falling sick. A few hours later I got ready and headed for a birthday party. As it's been very gloomy here and cold too, I opted for a somewhat chic look. I got these high rise jeans while in Amsterdam for 39,99 euros, it's somewhat expensive but I think it was a good buy because I guarantee you that these jeans will last forever. I added a floral top which has some hints of brown so that the shoes I opted for wouldn't feel so left out!

Top - H&M // Bottoms - Amsterdam // Shoes - Gifted

That's pretty much sums up my whole weekend, Sunday was a relaxed (did nothing) day.

xoxo
