10:00 AM
Good morning, hope you are all having a great morning.
I will be working today and tomorrow and also I'm not feeling too good so outfit posts will definitely have to wait a little longer. This is a tag related post about travelling, I know it's different but hey, different is good. Keep on reading.
1. Your most treasured passport stamp?
- Since I live in a European country which happens to be part of the Schengen Area; I get to travel to 25 other European countries freely without needing a visa. I happen to have visited few countries in Europe, 1 in Africa (Zambia) and once to the United States (Washington D.C to be exact) so I only have two stamps in my passport, from when I went to Zambia last year and the one from the States, which was also at the very beginning of last year.
My most treasured one though, is most definitely the one from my trip back home last August. It was so good to be back, being able to see all my family members and the additional ones. I enjoyed myself very much even though it was a whole 3 weeks filled with a lot of travelling from one places to another.
2. Can you recite your passport # from memory if asked?
- No, I can't even remember the first letters lol. I will work on it though, it might come in handy in the future, you never know.
3. Preferred method of travel; planes, trains or automobiles?
- To be honest I like all kinds of transportation method, I like planes because they are quick and I love being up in the air waking up to the gorgeous sunrise or watching the sun setting from my side window. Although I'm quite afraid of heights so take off and landing can sometimes be very stressful for me. Other than that I really enjoy travelling by plane.
Travelling with trains is also something I enjoy (even though we don't have trains in Iceland) so every chance I get to travel to a place where I can use a train, I always try to use them. With trains and cars there is just so much to see, the countryside in most places is beautiful, the trees, passing through tunnels. There's just something about it.
4. top 3 travel items?
- Obviously I'd need my passport so that's definitely at the very top of my list. Then I would also need money, since I like eating and exploring, it doesn't all come at free cost so the only clever thing to do would be to carry in hand some cash because you can't rely on your credit/debit cards all the time. I try to make it a habit of mine when travelling to always have cash. And last but not least would be my camera to capture my travels and printing out the pictures once I arrive back home for memories.
5. Hostel or hotel?
- Hotels for sure since they are more the norm or whatsoever, but sometimes the prices can be ridiculously high and also I feel there isn't as much freedom in hotels compared to hostels. Also if you happen to be experiencing some trouble i.e your flight gets cancelled and you need somewhere to say over night, hotels are usually fully booked and they can rarely help and that's when hostels come to the rescue. Personally, I prefer hostels due to more freedom, you get to interact more with locals and all that opposed to hotels.
6. Are you a repeat visitor or do you explore new places?
- I love going to new places that I've never been before, just that first step of getting out of the plane and setting foot in completely new soil in a totally different country is just amazing. I love the feeling of getting all excited to explore and such. But it also occasionally happens that I visit the same country twice or even more.
7. Do you read up on your destination (culture, history, safety) or do you wing it?
- I always make sure to read up on the place that I'm travelling to (unless if I've already been there before). It's always good to know what you're getting yourself into and also it's just a matter of safety to gather as much information about your destination as possible so you're all set if anything happens to go wrong at a certain point.
8. Favourite travel website?
- Don't know if this question is referring to travel website as in maybe trip advisor or such. Like people setting their opinion and tips about a certain country that they just traveled to. Myself, I just search on anything I can find about that place, I also read some travel blogs but Google is my absolute best friend when it comes to gathering information on a preferred destination of mine. Apart from Google, I use a lot of books about the places, on my free days you would find me at the local bookstore/café reading up on my next destination or a place that I dream of visiting in the future.
9. Where would you recommend a friend to visit? Name city & why.
- Amsterdam, I got the chance of travelling to Amsterdam last year which was a great experience since I've always wanted to go there. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance of visiting the Red Light District which was sad because that's the very first thing that popped up in search engines when researching the city. I love anything from the Netherlands, their national soccer team (been a fan for a long time), the guys there are very handsome, the food is amazing and the shopping. OMG. I went to an H&M store with a total 6 floors. It felt like I was in heaven, I really enjoyed exploring the city and doing some shopping.
10. You're leaving tomorrow, money is no option, where are you going?
- Easy, Bora Bora. Always wanted to visit that place long before seeing the movie 'Couples Retreat', although it made me even more eager to go there! I just love everything about the place, it seems so peaceful and lovely, my god even the water is toooo pretty. I wouldn't mind leaving now because the weather here is just complete shit, today I only saw the sun for a total of 10 minutes or so and it disappeared.
I tag anyone who is interested in doing this tag and make sure to leave a link to your blog below so I can check it out, I love reading tag posts. It's also a breath of fresh air to read/write something different from fashion related posts since some of us aren't lucky enough to be inspired all the time and we would rather cozy up in our beds scrolling through other blogs with a cup of tea in hand.
- Have a great weekend.
